Bang Land Lak pollen collected from dehiscent and non-dehiscent anthers in a culture medium containing 25% sucrose, 100 ppm H3BO3 300 ppm Ca(NO3)24H2O, 200 ppm MgSO47H2O and 100 ppm KNO3 was studied. The result indicated pollen grains derived from both dehiscent and non-dehiscent anthers germinated in dark condition better than in cool light. The germination percentage of pollen grains from dehiscent and non-dehiscent anthers were 2.87 and 7.71 in dark and 0.22 and 0.49 in cool light condition, respectively. Moreover, for Capsicum annuum cv. Prik Chee Pha Bangkhen, it was found that germination percentage of pollen was increased in proportion to sucrose concentration, attaining maximum level at 25%. |

Kheenuu) cultured in liquid medium comprising 100 ppm H3BO3, 300 ppm Ca(NO3)2, 200 ppm MgSO4.7H2O and 100 ppm KNO3 was studied. The result revealed that prehydration of pollen in a humid chamber for 30 min. significantly increased the germination percentage from 7.6 to 48.0. The medium with 15% sucrose (w/v) added had the best result for pollen germination. Moreover, pollen harvested from indehiscent anther germinated better than those from dehiscent anther. Fluorescene micrograph of pollen stained with 0.2% aniline blue fluorochrome showed the callosic layer of pollen tube. |

The results showed that the application of gibberellic acid at the concentration of 50 ppm at full bloom stage reduced pollen germination. The germination of the pollen with the treated and untreated were 0-2.21% and 45.24-57.75%, respectively. Gibberellic acid at a concentration of 50 ppm at full bloom, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days after full bloom stage resulted in 98 – 100% seedlessness. The size of berries and clusters were not affected by gibberellic acid. Gibberellic acid application at all stage of inflorescences increased soluble solids and decreased acidity which allowed early harvest. |

The pollens were collected from 23 years old teak trees grown in Mae Tha Seed Orchard, Lampang province, in July, August and September 1997. The test was done in Brewbaker?s pollen gemination media within 24 hours after collection. The result revealed that differences in germination percentages of pollens from the directions were statistically significant in July and highly statistically significant in August and September. Germination percentage of pollen collected from southem direction was lowest. However, no significant difference of gemination percentage of pollen collected from all directions in different months was observed. |
